The schools There are two St Michael's Schools, an Infant (to the end of year 2), and a Junior (from years 3 to 6). They are Voluntary Controlled Schools: the church owns the land on which the schools are built, but day to day administration is in the hands of the Local Authority. There are close connections with the Church, which is represented on the Governing Bodies. One of the representatives is always the parish priest. The schools are independent of each other, but there is close contact between them, and children normally go from the Infant to the Junior school. They are on opposite sides of Douglas Road. If you are thinking of sending your child to either of St Michael's Schools, make sure you go and visit. Both schools are noted for their warm and friendly atmosphere.
